(Neh 1:3, 10) And they said unto me, the remnants that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire. And when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the servant the Ammonite heard of it, it grieved them exceeding that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel. It shall address amongst others: health problem, family planning, marital problems, problems of handicapped people, street children, orphans, prostitution, HIV/AIDS, counseling and orientation. It shall also offer basic training especially to women and the girl child on issues such as: mother and child care, dieting, hygiene and sanitation, personal body and environmental care. From SWP empowerment for self sufficiency and meeting of needs from using local environmental material shall be made available. Attention shall also be directed to the problems of the under privileged, and of desperate cases, and providing temporal solution to help re-orientate persons whose situations have over lapsed into destitution.

HCMI understands that for a people to give their attention to a course their basic problem and pressing needs have to be met. It is in this light that the SWP stands to play a role in the rebuilding of the nation of Liberia. When Jesus had taken care of the social problems of those that followed him; casting out demons, healing their ailments, and had fed their hungry mouths, his followers increased on the next day. Matt 14:14-21

The SWP is thus principally to tackle the social and welfare problems of Liberians so that with a relaxed mind, the populace can understand clearly what the spiritual education and economic pillar have to offer towards rebuilding themselves and the nation. Inspiration to this pillar is drawn from the words of Jesus as registered in (John 21:15-19, Matt 25:31-45) Jesus said to Peter if you love me feed my lamb for whatsoever you do unto the least of these you have done unto me.

The activities of the SWP of HCMI shall emanate from centers that shall be called hereafter wherever they shall be established as PRAISE WELFARE HOME. These homes shall for the most part, work closely in connection with the economic empowerment gardens because like a good father, while SWP of HCMI is providing critically needed assistance to anyone it would at the same time be training and empowering such persons to be able to take care of themselves and other needy that will come their way. In this way, the ability to reach out shall become an established web, that grows, spreads, and become Stronger with each outreach.

HCMI has the confidence that Liberia is self sufficient and can build up good and respected standards for its people that will meet humanly acceptable norms, if the weapons of love, brotherliness, sharing good governance and inspired leadership are given a chance. This, according to SWP of HCMI is the basis on which Jesus made these professions: at little or no cost SWP intend to feed and house the oppressed by employing their talent in self help programs.

APPROACH TO THE SWP
The SWP of HCMI shall approach its mission with a diversified program considering the ramified nature of the social and individual problems and psychological needs of the people of Liberia. This arm of HCMI shall however use the following approach from which flexibility shall be entertained:

  1. Preaching and teaching at Praise chapels.
  2. Daily counseling and orientation at the Praise Welfare Facilities.
  3. Regular conferences, seminars and workshops on welfare issues.
  4. Classes and lectures on family life, human rights, civics and social responsibilities and self-esteem.
  5. Decimation of information and awareness sensitization by audio-visual, electronic and print media.
  6. Community outreach programs to the needy.
  7. Training, capacity building, and empowerment programs.
  8. Special training and rehabilitation programs, for handicapped persons, amputees, HIV/AIDS victims, street children, widows, and orphans, etc, to convert disabilities into abilities.
  9. Establishing of effective but low cost health facilities at the reach of all.
  10. Institution of productive vocational center to meet needs.

HCMI is aware of the fact that the social and welfare situation of Liberia is critical, needing some emergency to build confidence in the people to develop self-esteem and take up a renewal of their lives and destinies. She is also aware that addressing social and welfare problems will entail a huge investment. However, out of her love for the nation of Liberia and its people, and in keeping with the recommendation of Christ to his followers that: if you love me feed and Shepard my flock (John 21:15) The SWP intends to feed and Shepard the entire nation of Liberia, however she would gladly give her widows might where she cannot reach out with a thousand and feed a mouth where she cannot satisfy hundreds. She will teach the nation how to fish for the most part rather than give her fish to eat.

SUCCESS CRITERIA OF SWP
The people that dwell in darkness have seen a great light( Isa 9:2) The social and welfare problems of the nation of Liberia are born out of ignorance, self centeredness, greed, selfishness, bad traditions and customs, bad governance and leadership crisis amongst others. The people as a nation are not happy with the state of things and of their wellbeing. Most if not all Liberians are itchy to move out of the present vicious cycle

of poverty and misery surrounding the nation. They are looking for the source of a light that will lead them out of the gloom which has enveloped the land. They are looking for that Shepard who will lead them unto the green pasturage of their nation. This is the position of the SWP of HCMI. She stands to feed hungry mouths and guide the nation to the light that gives leading to independence and self-sufficiency out of the abundance of the nations’ blessings.

Classroom Sessions

She will succeed positively because the nation of Liberia is expecting her début to lead her people to that point where there would no longer be tears, pains, and weeping. Revelations…

PROBLEMS AND RISK ASSOCIATED WITH SWP

Amongst the most likely problems that the SWP may encounter are:

  1. Initial difficulties of reaching the masses and winning.
  2. Difficulties of getting the masses to accept their abilities, potentials and capabilities.
  3. Funds to sustain the immediate needs of destitute cases.
  4. Problem of linking areas of excesses and areas of lack.
  5. Funds to run basic vocational training and empowerment programs.
  6. Inability of the masses to meet up with basic registration and training participation fees.
  7. Difficulties of re-orientating distorted psychologies and mind sets.
  8. Insufficient skilled social workers that share the vision.
  9. Infrastructure, stationary and other facilities.

HCMI’s greatest wish is to teach the masses how to use available resources and capacities to make decent and humanly standards of sustainable living for them-selves; reducing poverty, misery, pain, stress, and vice.
